MetaTrader 5 is getting a major upgrade. Starting Friday, August 1, MetaQuotes will release build 5200 of the MT5 trading platform – a technical leap forward for developers and algo traders using MQL5.
Machine Learning Support Grows with OpenBLAS Integration
Build 5200 introduces nearly 30 new OpenBLAS functions in MQL5, dramatically expanding matrix operations for developers. This means better support for:
- Eigenvalue decomposition
- Solving linear equations
- Matrix classification and norm calculations
- Factored and reduced calculations
- Complex matrix conjugation
These additions open the door for more advanced AI- and ML-powered Expert Advisors, making MT5 a more attractive platform for quantitative and algorithmic traders.
Stronger MQL5 Controls = Fewer Bugs
MetaQuotes has also enhanced compiler-level checks in MQL5. New constraints aim to reduce errors in program behavior, improving the reliability and accuracy of custom indicators and EAs.
Automatic Theme Switching
MT5 now includes system-level theme syncing. Traders using Windows can set the terminal to automatically follow their OS light/dark mode, eliminating the need for manual toggles.
To enable this:
Go to View > Color Themes > System
Update Rollout
Build 5200 will be distributed through the Live Update system starting August 1, 2025.
Why It Matters for Prop Traders
- Advanced math tools mean smarter bots, faster strategy testing, and greater control for automation-heavy traders
- Improved debugging and error checking = more stable funded accounts
- UI comfort improves with system-synced themes – a nice bonus for full-time traders
Stay tuned as more prop firms begin integrating ML-focused strategies and tools powered by the evolving MQL5 ecosystem.
