TradingView has introduced a feature that enables traders to generate automated alerts directly from visual annotations on their charts.

The update focuses on the platform’s rectangle drawing tool, commonly used by traders to highlight areas of potential support, resistance or market consolidation. Previously, these shapes served only as visual markers. The new functionality allows users to attach an alert that activates when the market price interacts with the drawn zone.

This development is intended to bridge a gap between manual chart analysis and automated monitoring. A trader can define a specific area on a chart once, and the system will then track price movement in relation to it, sending a notification when a set condition is met.

Flexible Trigger Conditions

Available trigger conditions include an alert when the price first moves into the rectangle, when it exits, or based on whether it is currently inside or outside the boundaries. This is designed to notify users of significant market movements, such as the break of a consolidation pattern or a test of a key technical level.

The process for setting an alert involves drawing a rectangle, selecting the “Add alert on drawing” option from its menu and then configuring the trigger and notification settings. The alert then monitors the specified zone independently.

Recently, TradingView rolled out intraday open interest data for futures contracts across several leading global exchanges, giving traders more timely visibility into market positioning throughout the day.

The expanded feeds include coverage from India’s National Stock Exchange (NSE), the Korea Exchange (KRX), the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and Bursa Malaysia, among others. Open interest remains a key indicator in futures analysis, widely used to assess sentiment and the strength behind price movements.
